RIP Pointless Buzzwords

Microfiction is the art of writing stories of 100-300 words. The following is a 100-word humorous orbituary for a trend I wish would go out of fashion that won the September 2026 Little Old Lady website microfiction contest.

Pointless Buzzwords was murdered at a town hall meeting yesterday after being targeted by long-suffering employees for excessive use of empty rhetoric.

Before it took its last breath, Buzzwords implored workers to be in sync and target low-hanging fruit to move the needle on business plan deliverables.

An unidentified, well-aimed shot from the crowd finally put a pin in it.

Bosses have called for a deep-dive investigation into Buzzwords’ untimely demise but were quickly shut down by disgruntled staff.

‘We don’t need to ‘circle back’ to ‘unpack’ anything,’ declared Clarity O’Expression, now being questioned by the Grammar Police.

RIP Buzzwords.
