I was fortunate, pre COVD-19, to play some amazing golf courses and today I am taking you to Narooma Golf Club on the south coast of New South Wales. Narooma has some of the most beautiful views you will ever see on a course in Australia, with the front holes hugging the rugged coastline of the Tasman Sea, while the back nine takes you into forests and bushland. Hole 3, or Hogan’s Hole, is the signature hole of the course. Players will love the challenge of hitting over the ocean to the green on this Par 3 beauty with many a golf ball given up to the sea gods.

Montague Island is visible from the course and if you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of dolphins, seals and even whales.

Get your swing going for the back nine. The forest side offers up long holes and staying on the fairway is a must. When you finish your round the golf club provides spectacular views of the course and ocean and is a popular spot for weddings. Pauls on the Course serves up good club food and you can enjoy a wine or beer while watching players attack the green on Hole 6.

Nestled in the bush, the nearby Tilba Valley Winery and Ale House is a lovely spot to sample a wine or beer and on the weekend you can relax on the lawns and enjoy live music from local musicians. I recommend their Rose and my husband is a fan of the Cabernet Sauvignon. After a long day of golf and wine, watch the sun go down over Tuross Lake while enjoying fresh seafood or Thai at The Pickled Octopus at Tuross Head. If you prefer pub food, the Tuross Head Country Club is a good option. I also recommend including a round at Tuross Head Golf Club. This nine-hole course is not for the fainthearted, with hilly fairways that will test your skill while dodging the many kangaroos that call the course home. The course offers up some beautiful photo opportunities overlooking the ocean.

There are numerous accommodation options on the south coast ranging from motels to private home and farm stays, to glamping and cute B&Bs. There is something to suit everyone.

If you want to grab your besties for a long weekend, Classic Capital Golf Tours based out of Canberra can arrange your south coast golfing holiday for you.

Tourist operators around Australia have been doing it tough through the COVID-19 pandemic. I encourage you to get out again when lockdowns are lifted and borders are open and what better way to do that than to get back into golf, explore our beautiful regional areas and wineries and enjoy a weekend away.
